Geldeston Village Hall

Chairman's report AGM 2006
Thank you to all the committee, I feel we have had a boost with fresh blood helping to push the hall committee into more action over the past year.
Having finally seemed to have solved the problem of the leaking side gable - we have moved on to restore the inside paintwork to a good standard.
Particular thanks to Ian Ansell who has pushed hard to get us all painting the hall. Ian also managed to talk Godfrey DIY into giving us a big discount on paint. We have also had help from people who are not committee members, which is also very encouraging. Thanks to Paul from the boatyard, who has put many hours of work into helping with the painting.
Thanks to Muriel Brown who through her son in law, Brian Clare and Virgin Atlantic, has supplied us with material to cover the chairs and provide Curtains. I am aware that we have several people lined up to help make the curtains and cover chairs.
Our Main Fund Raising events: The Village Fete was a great success - not only did we have a good time with people from the village joining in with running stalls and taking part, but we also raised a lot of money for the Hall - about £500
The Strawberry tea was again a great success - many thanks to the Burgesses as without the use of their house and garden, as well as a lot of effort on their part it would not have been such a success - both as an event - but also as a fund raiser - again about £500 profit.
We ran a Ceilidh dance, which despite all the efforts of the caller was a great success. We even made a profit, after providing food, and paying £200 for the band.
